Harnessing the Power Of Emotions

This month’s blog is delivered with a bit less humour (unfortunately) than the previous ones, yet with similar insights. The violent attack on Mumbai hurt me personally, for the obvious reason – it used to be my home. And though I may no longer be living there, some of my family and friends still do. And not every single one of them made it out alive last week.

Indians, and especially Mumbaikers, have every right to feel the anger they are feeling now. However, I implore my fellow Indians, and all my other human brothers and sisters, to utilize the GIFT that anger can potentially give you. Yes, anger can sometimes be a gift….as can sadness, loneliness, etc. If such emotions had no use, we would not have them!! So for God’s sake, do not repress them!
Instead, please allow the anger to ignite a new passion for unity. Allow it to make you stand up and demand new integrity from government. Allow it to create a burning desire to BE the change you want to see in the world. Let us not forget Mahatma Gandhi-ji’s eternal words. If he were alive today, he would surely demonstrate disapproval at even the consideration of retaliation. It is not the Indian way. Utilizing the power of those feelings to rise to new heights, is.

As chaos in the world continues to intensify, understand that our sparked emotions – if we HARNESS them - are meant to drive us toward a new direction, a new way of being. That is why they are there…that is why we feel them. Denying those emotions would surely be the most damaging thing we could do to ourselves at this time – at any time. Harnessing those emotions, however, is not only the most beneficial; it is also a key to mastering the Law of Attraction (The real “secret”, by the way). But more on that later.
