Spirituality Malaysia : Ascension Ascension ================================================================================ Darreck Chen on 02 September, 2009 09:49:50 Just a few months back during a regular tea session with my soul buddies, the topic of ascension came up during the conversation. How do we achieve ascension for souls on earth in this life? There are many spiritual schools, religions, books and new age workshops that have touched on this topic and different authors all have their own take on ascension. This of course, begs the questions - which one should we follow? My buddies and I engaged in a meaningful discourse over the topic and we concluded that in order to scale the ladder of ascension, the fundamental step was to master the physical body, followed by mastery of the mental, emotional bodies and the final step comprises soul realisation. In fact, we need to master all these bodies concurrently in full spectrum before we can transcend all the earthly challenges and lessons. For example, if someone on the spiritual path is too focused on connecting with the spiritual realm, he or she may encounter more physical and emotional challenges. In the same token, someone too focused on the physical aspect may be oblivious to the call for spiritual soul soul realisation. Hence, balance is the integral key for souls on the ascension ladder. Excessive focus on one aspect of our being brings about imbalance and may lead to descent on the ascension ladder! In my personal opinion, a fallen angel refers to a soul who is on earth school to enrol in "earthly courses" for learning and evolving. If there is an imbalance in a certain aspect, we are prone to falls and hard knocks. This reminds me of the childhood game of snake and ladders where upon hitting a snake, we would fall a few rungs down the ladder, further away for our goal.  This led me to ponder about inviting balanced and integrated speakers who could shed some insight on the fundamental principles of body, mind and soul mastery.  Who should I invite to give the talk? The first name that came to mind to address the needs of the physical body and appearance is Peter Lum, the Malaysian born image creative force behind successful TV shows such as the "Malaysian Idol season 2," "So You Think You Can Dance Malaysia seasons 1 and 2," "One In A Million seasons 1 and 3" and mentor of "Project Runway Malaysia"! I have known Peter for quite a few years and decided to approach him to see if he was interested in giving a talk to the spiritual community in Malaysia. Peter was enthusiastic about the venture and told me to go ahead with the idea! J Next up, what about a mental, emotional and soul specialist? The name which crossed my mind was Shamala Tan, a life coach and channel from Singapore. Much of her work is based on her own learning and experiences. Having been highly dependent on alcohol and other abusive substances in her past, she overcame the psychological challenges and became the master of her bad habits and addictions through self motivation. I have known her for seven years while I was still a new comer in spiritual learning. She taught me lot of things and is still one of the teachers I have utmost respect for due to her wisdom, integrity and unconditional love.
